It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Maria MacHado in Kelowna, British Columbia, who passed away at the age of 93, on July 7, 2022. She was predeceased by: her daughter Helena; her father Mozambique; her siblings, Joe, Manuel (Felizarda), Belmira (Jack) and Carma (Xico); her stepbrothers, Antonio and Arturo; and her nephews, Albino and Luis.

She is survived by: her son Pedro (Angie); her siblings, Domingos and Maureen Daley (Trevor); her nieces and nephews, Meghan, Hoyt, Ashley McIver (Dennis), Melissa, Joseph, Hillary and Adam; her husband Antonio Machado; her children, Rosa Lopes (Armindo), Paula Otto (Jeff) and Carlos Machado (Lorraine); her grandchildren, Miguel Lopes (Lindsay), Karina Cavanaugh (Chris), Ryan Lopes-Ward (Earl), Alex Lopes (Monica), Kevin Machado, Diego and Remy Machado; her great grandchildren, Linden, Lucas, Ava Lopes, Jackson and Cristiano Cavanaugh; her nibling Brasil; Manuel (family: Angola), Eliza, Luzia, Libano, Armindo, Barb, Joe Otto (Maria), Greg Otto (Eva), Bob Otto (Karen) and Maria (Alfredo) of Jose.

Moving to Kelowna was supposed to afford them the opportunity to have more family time however Covid-19 made their last two years difficult as it did for so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Maria's name to Diabetes Canada.
