He was predeceased by: his parents, Johann Heinrich and Martha; and his siblings, Hans, Ewald, Nelly and Alice.

He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Alice "Cindy" of Zurich, Switzerland, Alan Roy (Karen) and Michael James "Mike" of Barrie, Ontario.; his grandchildren, Jeffery and Jaclyn; his stepgrandson Gordon Tonner; and his wife Diane Elizabeth "Liz" Camella Tonner.
