She was loved and cherished by many people including: her children, Darrin Carter (Lisa Dickinson) and Stacey Sinclair (Shawn Trefry); her grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas and Shanaya; her sister Bernice Thomson; her husband Jim Carter; her sister Louise Schmidt; Kaisha and Raeya.
The family would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank-you to her niece, Lynn Thomson, whose generous kidney donation extended Shirley's life by nearly twelve years.
