She was predeceased by: her husband Jim Hiromu Shirai; her sons-in-law, Mas Terada and Bud Brown; and her siblings, Etsuo Chiba, George, Tom, Harry and Mutsuo Chiba.

She is survived by: her daughters, Aiko Asao (Roy), Lillian Terada and Lucy Brown; her grandchildren, Kim Asao, Stacey Seib (James), Deane, Steve and Nikki Terada; and her great grandchildren, Kaili, Koby Terada and Sola Seib. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
