Verna Peace Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verna Peace who passed away peacefully at Mountain View Village in Kelowna, BC, on October 21, 2021, at the age of 80. She was predeceased by her husband Don Peace her parents Bob and Muriel Clarke, her one brother Dan Clarke and 2 of her sisters in a very short span of each other, Shirley Hay and Marjorie Foley. Verna has a surviving brother, Bob Clarke (Carol) and sister Donna Phillips and a brother-in-law Brian (Melba). Vernas' legacy lives on through her 4 children, Dwayne Peace (Jacqueline), Bob Peace (Jocelyn), Diane Peace (Ted) and Dan Peace (Helen), plus 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren including numerous nieces and nephews.
Verna was involved with Northern Health in Dawson Creek and then after moving to Kelowna was hired on with Interior Health. When she retired, she joined Don, in his trucking career. They then both retired in 2004. She was very crafty, from crocheting blankets, making macramé owls to reupholstering furniture.
She was well respected and loved by her family, friends, colleagues and employees alike, for her intelligence, professionalism, modesty and her way with people. December 2019, Verna had a fall in her home which caused traumatic brain injury and further lead to an early onset of dementia.
The family extends a warm thank you to all the extraordinary staff and volunteers at the facility (MountainView Village) that took care of Verna over the last year and a half (with grace and good humor as all who cared for her attest), and especially during the challenges of the Pandemic.
No service will be held per Varnas' wishes. The Peace family and relatives will be holding a gathering next summer as a 'Celebration-of-life' for Verna and her 2 sisters.
