Shirley Wieland Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on May 7, 2026, at the age of 79, Shirley Wieland of Keremeos, British Columbia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Shirley has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Patricia Mitchell of Keremeos, BC and Robert Mitchell. She is survived by: her husband Bill Wieland of Keremeos, BC; and her children, Sarah Wieland of Arizona, USA, David Mitchell of California, USA and Trudy Hastie (New Zealand). She is also survived by her family, friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Marmot Recovery Foundation (https://marmots.org) in support of conservation efforts for the Vancouver Island Marmot population, a cause Shirley cared about deeply.
