She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Bigelow and Winnifred "Winnie" Bigelow of Carrot River; and her husband Dr. Keith Backman. She is survived by: her sister Mary Lyl McPhail (Al) of Calgary, Alberta; her son Charlie Passmore of Nanaimo, BC; her grandchild Kassandra Passmore of Port Alberni, BC; her son Scott Passmore (Patti) of Kimberley, BC; her stepchildren, Mark Backman (Elana) of Powell River, BC and Michelle Weintz (Rolpf) of Kelowna, BC.; her stepgrandchildren, Jolene, Charlene (Patti), Geoffrey, Corey and Taylor; and her great grandchild Mark.
