He was predeceased by: his parents, Geoffrey Northop and Joyce Northop; his son Shawn; and his brothers, Mike and Allan.

He is survived by: his wife Bernice; his children, Maynard (Carolyn), Lorne (Gina) and Lisa (Craig); and his siblings, Linda (Jim), Edna (Adrian) and Phillip (Elaine). He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
