Glen G Monson Obituary

Glen Monson passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, at the age of 97, at Nanaimo General Hospital, Nanaimo, BC. Glen was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose, Alberta on May 31st, 1926. Glen leaves behind his loving wife of 72 years Phillis Monson, two biological children, Cathy Sheehan, David Monson (wife Patricia), and two adopted children Jan Monson (wife Jessica) and Adina Monson (husband Roy). He also leaves behind a legacy of three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Glen's life on the homestead farm in Camrose revolved around raising his family, a strong devotion in support of his church, and creating an innovative world class dairy operation. In the fall of 1975, the family moved to Calgary where Glen enjoyed a successful career in real estate. True to his devotion of family and never waning acceptance of responsibility, Dad lovingly welcomed the children of his deceased sister-in-law as his own children.
Glen was always busy throwing the whole crew into any project he undertook. Glen's wonderful sense of humor charmed all around him throughout his entire life. A confident and articulate public speaker Glen was involved on many committees supporting all organizations and causes he believed in.
Glen was a talented woodworker, able to create anything from houses, to renovations, and furniture designs. Unbelievably, Glen could not hold a note in a bucket though...but he did try to learn piano, unsuccessfully, at one time.
Despite that one failing Glen was a talented athlete in baseball, hockey, and curling. Talented, earnest, hard working, and unfailing devotion, with a loving heart, Glen, Dad, Uncle, Grandpa, and Friend will be missed by all who lives he undoubtedly touched.
As per Glen's wishes there will be no funeral service, just a small gathering to support family during this time of mourning will be held.
