He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Daponte Cancela and Maria Julia Cabral; his brother Manuel; and his wife Julia Amaral. He is survived by: his children, Albert (Sylvia), Maria (Wayne) and George (Annamarie); his grandchildren, Andrew, Crystal, Lisa, Ben, Aria and Kylie; and his great grandchildren, Austin and Nash.

Viewing was held on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Home (5855 Hemlock St, Oliver, BC V0H1T0). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Christ the King Catholic Church (6044 Spartan St, Oliver, BC V0H1T6). A burial was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery (1068 Rockcliffe Rd, Oliver, BC V0H1T6).
