He is survived by : his wife Anita; his children, Stephen Gates (Yoshie) and Nancy Murphy (Colm); his grandchildren, Megumi, Kie, Eka, Koji Gates, Joshua, Caitlin, Aoife and Fiona Murphy; and his siblings, Ross Gates (Beth), Ron Gates (Sherri), Margaret Stenson (Glen) and Kathy Gates (Don DuFraimont).
