He was predeceased by: his wife Annegret; his parents, Julius and Henriette; his siblings, Erika Wiens, Robert, Willi, Rudolf and Heinrich; Auguste Neumann.

He is survived by: his children, Robert, Sue (Pam) and Reni Bontempo; his grandsons, Adam and Dana; his nephew Ralph (Antje); his nieces, Sylvia Reich and Ingrid Wagner (Joerg); Jim.
