He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Thompson and Ada Thompson; and his siblings, Ruby, Belle, Ken, Ray and Russell.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda; his children, Darrel (Tamara) and Patti Knezivic (Dino); and his grandchildren, Cassaundra Robinson (Matthew), Cody, Tyler Thompson, Lexi and Levi Knezevic.
