He was predeceased by: his parents, Boyd McKay and Frances McKay. He is survived by: his daughter Amanda McKay (Cooper); his wife Laura Jean Elliott of Hershel, SK.; his children, Ryan, Ally, Lane, Ella and Lily; his siblings, Loran McKay (Barb) of Loran's Welding and Connie; and his loyal buddy Gus.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the S. C. R Church (4035 Walnut Dr, Smithers, BC V0J2N0).
