He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary; his wife Jean; his son Art Shortreid; and his stepdaughter Peggy. He is survived by: his son Jim Shortreid (Jacquie); his daughter-in-law Susan Shortreid; his stepsons, Don Mitchell (Marilyn), Len Mitchell (Christine) and Bob Mitchell; and his grandchildren, Andrew Shortreid (Stephanie), Ian Willey (Rachel), Leah Hayes (Tyler), Matt Shortreid (Candace), Adam Shortreid (Paige), Courteney Bechthold (Marlon), Danielle Tara (Joel), Greg Mitchell (Christy), Jeff Mitchell (Catherine), Lauren Mitchell, Lisa Mitchell, Mitchell Page, Casey Page and Jordan Page (Jade). He is also survived by many great grandchildren.

This was invaluable to him for staying connected with his extensive network of family and friends, both because he was very hard of hearing and as he protected himself while his social world shrank through 2020 due to Covid.
