Shirley Vivian Badali Obituary
Peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at the age of 81. Shirley leaves behind the love of her life, best friend and beloved husband of almost 62 years, James (Jim) Badali. Shirley was a beloved and proud mom to her children: Joe (Chris), Lori (Tony), Tony (Toni), a proud grandmother to Carmen (Andrew), James (Claire), Shane, Courtney, Stacy (Brent), Nick, Anthony (Erica), Tyler (Emma), and Mel (Andrew), and a cherished great grandmother to Lily, Alex, Asher, Luka, and Korra, who she could always comfort in the warmth of her arms. Shirley will be sorely missed by her brother, David (Dick) Dolman, and her four nieces, Sherry (Gary), Debbie (John), Robin (Kevin) and Tracy.
Shirley was dedicated to her family. She was completely devoted to her husband Jim, and could often be seen communicating with him in a silent language that only they understood. Her primary focus was always the health, happiness and safety of her family, and she was the rock and center of their world. Her steady guidance and loving support never failed to comfort and brighten any situation. Her strength, thoughtfulness and ability to put her family first and her unconditional love will live on in our hearts forever.
Shirley was a well loved and respected secretary at Burnsview Secondary School before retiring. During her retirement, Shirley could be seen almost every day tending to her garden. She enjoyed singing with her husband Jim in a band formed with good friends. They enjoyed playing at Seniors Centers and watching couples dance to their favourite tunes. She took great pleasure in making people happy.
Our family would like to thank the medical team at Surrey Memorial Hospital (HAU) and Laurel Place as well as her Care Workers from Fraser Health for their compassion and outstanding care and support.
A gathering of family and friends will be planned at a later time when it is possible for all to travel safely.
