She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Karl Scholz and Maria Scholz; her pet Missy; her husband Andy; her son Robin; her daughter-in-law Cathy; her grandsons, Mason and Dylan; Robin (Andy Agopian).

Gitta became a Soroptimist, and she donated much of her spare time to the group, eventually becoming a key member of Soroptimist International of Lincoln, where she made several lasting friendships.
