He was predeceased by: his child Daniel; his brother Norman; and his son Stephen. He is survived by: his wife Julie; his children, Dan (Gail) and Melanie (David); his daughter-in-law Kathleen; and his grandchildren, Joanna, Nicole, Alannah, Kristen, Shanti, Michael and Paul.
At the families request donations may be given to the VGH Foundation in the honour of the staff in the burn and trauma unit and Ward LB 8A for taking good care of David in his last days.
