He was predeceased by: his wife Louise (Reva) of Tahiti; and his parents, John Anthony Hunter and Catherine Ellen Hunter. He is survived by: his children, Alexandra Hunter of Vancouver Island and Maiarii Hunter (Manava) of Tahiti; his stepchildren, Ehouraun and Tifenn; his grandchildren, Zoey, Tehauariinui and Matahina Hunter; his siblings, Ian (Sylvia), Doreen and Eileen (Wayne); his nieces and nephews, Justin, Bobby, Spenser, Liam and Bonnie; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Gavin, Nora, Benjamin and Madison; his close friend Bob Hindle; Bridie Deacon of Scotland.
