He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman and Thelma (Beverly (Voyer)); his brothers, Lorne and Donald James Barton; his siblings-in-law, Melvin Morley (Bun) and Marg Barton; and his nephew Shawn Barton.

He is survived by: his children, Brian, Della (Ron), Cathy (Glen) and Barry (Lori); his sister-in-law Jean Barton; and his sisters, Agnes, Loreen Morley (Dolly) and Ellen Coppinger (Mike). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren.
