He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Fingland and Dorothy Elizabeth Chowen. He is survived by: his wife Ilene McDonald; his sons, Bill and John; his sister Catherine McKnight; and his friend Fernand Fontaine.

There will be no memorial service but donations in his memory may be made to the Canada Heart and Stroke Foundation.
