He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen and Vera; and his sister-in-law Gerry. He is survived by: his wife Sherry; his children, Shannon (Robert), Paul (Colleen), Samantha (Phil) and Sara (Phil); his siblings, George, Glen and Kathie; his grandchildren, Elias, Chelsea, Brianna, William and Nathan; his daughter-in-law Tara; and his friends, Burt, Sharon, Rod and Krista. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, his godchildren.

Once Gary got long covid and lung cancer, he struggled with his health, but he never stopped fighting, not even at the end.
