Lorraine (Joan) Major Obituary

Lorraine (Joan) Major passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on Feb 26th, 2026.

Lorraine was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 7th, 1950, and, as a child, enjoyed spending time at her family's cottage and skiing. In her twenties, she worked at a jewelry store, as a nanny, and eventually as an English teacher. Lorraine was incredibly adventurous, intelligent, and energetic. One summer she even decided to hitch-hike alone across Europe!

At age 33, Lorraine quit working to stay home with her two children. She cared for her daughter, Brittney, who has profound autism, for 39 years! As time went on, Lorraine struggled more and more with mental illness. Despite this, she always had faith in God. May God, who is merciful, take her into. His heavenly home.

Lorraine is predeceased by her parents Jessie and John Major. She is survived by her brother, Bruce Major (Merilea), nephews, David and Greg Major, daughters Natasha Eddy (Kyle) and Brittney, and grandchildren, Hannah, Logan, Josiah, and Caleb Eddy.

Thank you to the staff at Victoria General Hospital for making Lorraine's last days peaceful and comfortable. Also thank you to Debbie Neubert for being by Lorraine's side for hours at a time, talking to her, praying for her and bringing her things to help make her comfortable.
