He was predeceased by: his parents, Edith Turner and Oscar Turner; his wife Sylvia; his siblings, Neville, Gerry (Joan), Eleanor (Bill) and Lee (Clara); his sister-in-law Caroline Moore; and his nephews, Brian, Blair and Raymond.

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Alex (Andrea), Christina (Grant), Kate, Ross, Reid (Tanya), Malcolm (Hillary), Linden and Kinna (Scott); his former wife Joan; his nieces and nephews, Saralee, Maureen, Shaun, Janice, David, Dianne, Kevin, Debi, Becky, Sandra and Karen; and his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Meiklejohn (Bob) and Marian Turner Lewis.
