Sophie (Hood) HOLOWANKY Obituary

Sophie (Sandy) Holowanky nee Hood passed away peacefully on July 30, 2022. Sandy was born 100 years ago at Model Farm, Saskatchewan. Her childhood and early years were spent on the family farm near West Bend, Saskatchewan. In her early 20’s Sandy moved to Vancouver, BC. There she married John Holowanky and had two children, Ken and Linda. Sandy’s later years were spent living in Victoria, BC.
Predeceased by her parents William Hood and Mary Hood nee Skolnik, husband John, brothers Fred and Mike, sisters Katie, Anne and Stella, Sandy leaves behind her son Ken (Shannon), daughter Linda Westby (Greg), and three granddaughters Jillian, Cara, and Nina. She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Alberta.
Sandy’s family was the most important part of her life. She was always there for everyone with her generosity, humour, honest friendly nature, and hard work ethic both at home and during her working career (first as a waitress then many years with Echlin United automotive). Her family misses her so much. Sandy has left everyone with countless wonderful memories to cherish.
The family would like to extend gratitude to Luther Court in Victoria, BC for the phenomenal amount of care and attention Sandy received during her last years. She enjoyed all the activities, especially Bingo, and was very comfortable there.
Sandy had a large circle of friends (the coffee gang) and improved life for so many – a life well-lived!
