William Wayne Ralph Obituary
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of William “Wayne” Ralph on June 8, 2025, at the age of 66. Wayne passed away surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer - a battle he met with every ounce of strength, love, and fight in his heart.
Born in 1959 in Elgin, Scotland, Wayne grew up in Buckie, a Scottish fishing village, before beginning his working life in the Merchant Marine. He immigrated to British Columbia, Canada in 1985 and met his beloved wife Maureen just three weeks later, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and community.
Wayne spent over 30 years with BC Ferries, starting in the engine room and rising through the ranks to Superintendent of Engineering. Following his retirement, he founded Victoria Cider Co. with his family, a late-in-life passion that grew into an award-winning cidery. As a proud cider master, Wayne poured his heart into the craft and the community that grew around it.
Wayne was magnetic, quick-witted, and endlessly curious. A natural storyteller and steadfast presence, he cared deeply for the people around him. He lived with heart and vitality and had a way of drawing people in and making them feel like they truly belonged.
He was emotional and affectionate, a true family man at his core, and a deeply devoted husband and father. He shared an unbreakable bond with his children, who felt his unwavering love, support, and pride every single day. Being a husband and father was his greatest joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Maureen Ralph; his children Kirstie, Jamie, Emily, and Daniel Ralph; his granddaughter Maeve Saunders; his siblings James, Jayne, and Stan Ralph; and his mother, Margaret Ralph. He was predeceased by his father, Daniel Ralph.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Victoria Cider Co. All those that knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
