Lori McKinnon Obituary

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Lori McKinnon, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend. Lori passed away suddenly on April 23, 2023, in Williams Lake, BC.

Lori was born on October 12, 1972, in Wingham, Ontario, to Joe and Trudy McKinnon, and was the eldest of four sisters. She grew up in a loving family and was extremely close to her sisters Sandy, Cheryl, and Paula. They spent countless hours together, sharing laughs, tears and always confiding in each other.

After graduating and spending many years working in Hinton, Lori later moved to Spruce Grove, where her gifts of compassion, service and love were shared at her job with Catholic Social Services. But her greatest joy in life was being a mother to her two beautiful daughters, Paytra and Shayla. She loved them more than anything and was always there to support them in all their endeavors. Lori's love for her daughters was palpable and infectious, and anyone who met them knew that they were the most important people in her life.

Recently, Lori chose to change careers and started working at Mount Polley, a gold and copper mine in Williams Lake, BC where she drove a Rock Truck and was known to be a bright light to those that she worked with.

Lori will be deeply missed by her 2 daughters, parents, sisters and their partners, her nieces and nephews, and numerous friends, old and new. Her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and kind heart will forever be etched in our memories.

Lori’s funeral service will be held Saturday, May 20, at 11am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Spruce Grove, Alberta. Also, a celebration of Lori's life will be held on Sunday, May 21 at Blueberry Hall, just outside of Stony Plain beginning at noon, where family and friends can come together to share stories and memories of Lori. All are welcome to attend and/or both of these events.

Lori's daughters, Paytra and Shayla, have started a GoFundMe in Lori's name to raise money for mental health and addiction charities. If you would like to donate, please do so here: https://www.gofundme.com.

Lori was an amazing person who touched the lives of everyone she met, and we are all blessed to have known her. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, our dear Lori.
