Norma Carol Mitchell Obituary

Norma Carol Mitchell, 82, of Williams Lake, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 6th, 2026.

Born in North Vancouver on January 7th, 1944, to Norm and Isabel Woodard, Norma grew up attending North Vancouver High. Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in healthcare, completing her registered nursing education at Vancouver General Hospital and later earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Victoria.

Norma's life was defined by dedication to her family and her community. In 1965, she married the love of her life, John Mitchell. Together, they built a life in North Vancouver and Toronto before ultimately relocating and settling down in Williams Lake in 1970.

As a compassionate maternity nurse, Norma touched countless lives at both Toronto Grace Hospital and Cariboo Memorial Hospital. Beyond her professional career, she was deeply committed to community service, dedicating her time to volunteering with the Red Cross and serving on the board of the Williams Lake Seniors Centre. In her personal time, Norma found joy in reading, quilting, and needlework, and loved nothing more than hitting the open road for long trips in the RV with John.

Norma is survived by her beloved husband, John; her son Owen (Cher); grandchildren Bailee, Tabias (Danielle), and Corbin (Kayla); and her great-granddaughter Isla. She also leaves behind her sisters Evie (Van) and Julie (Al), her brother Ted (Joan), as well as her loving nieces, nephews, and their extended families.

She has now been lovingly reunited with her son Jason, her parents Norm and Isabel, her in-laws Charles and Margaret, her sister Mary (Skip), her nephew David, and her sister-in-law Erbby.
