With sadness, we share the passing of Hilda (Friesen) Klassen (Altona, Manitoba). Hilda, born on February 23, 1928, passed away on August 27, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Helena Friesen and Henry Friesen; her husband Jake; her sister Linda; her sons-in-law, Larry Pappel, Steven Hruda and William Borden; and her granddaughter Robyn Procak.
She is survived by: her children, Marilyn Pappel, Shirley Borden, Jo Ann Heinrichs (Bryon), Sharon Hruda, James Klassen (Virginia) and Louise Sawatzky (Henry); her grandchildren, Jodi Pappel (Shale Reider), Rachelle Gerszewski (Eugene), Andrea Giesbrecht, Lindsey Stender (Alan), Jennifer Ackers (Ryan), Russell Heinrichs, Matthew Hruda (Analisa), Kandace Bailey (Chad), Courtney Myers (Kevin), Brooke Sawatzky (Nicholas Knook) and Taylor Posillipo (Devon); and her brothers, Pete and Ken (Laurel). She is also survived by her 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson.
Viewing was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wiebe Funeral Home Altona Ltd. (216 Centre Ave E, Altona, MB R0G). A celebration of life was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Bergthaler Mennonite Church (117 2nd St NW, Altona, MB R0G0B1).
