He was predeceased by : his wife Diane; his brothers-in-law, Norman Aitkenhead and Archie Aitkenhead; and his parents, Roy and Pauline.

He is survived by : his children, Marlis Steinke, Bennett (Marni), Jayne Watt (Ryan) and Shawn (Sherena); his grandchildren, Eric Lokstet, Tim Lokstet, Nicholas Lokstet, Rowan Steinke, Tristan Merke, Carter Watt, Ryker Watt, Sophia Merke and Sana Merke; and his sisters, Marge Aitkenhead and Iris Aitkenhead. He is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.
