He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret; his parents, Roderick Hurton and Nellie Hurton; and his siblings, Roderick Hurton and Grace Holler (Les).

He is survived by: his children, Don Hurton (Jacqui), Allen Hurton, Cathie Haasbeek (Garry) and Michael Hurton; and his grandchildren, Jason (Lee), Scott (Evelyn), Kari (Kent), Jordan (Mariana), Kalee, Alyssa (Stephan), Jared (Veronica), Andrea (Ben), Jack (Pauline), Colin, Addison, Aubrey, James, Leah, Nora, Evie, Hudson, Keegan, Zach, Gavin and Rory.
