Madeline Van De Spiegle Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Madeline Van De Spiegle (Holland, Manitoba), who passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Backer and Gertie De Backer; her siblings, Marlene De Backer, Maurice De Backer and Albert De Backer; and her in-laws, Jeanne Verniest (Maurice), Irma Almey, Jules Van De Spiegle, Julia Paquette (Art), Victor Van De (Perry), Camille Van De (Ellie), Gerald Grift and Al Shwaykosky.

She is survived by: her husband Raymond; her children, Leonard (Rachel) of Holland, MB, Laurie (Lynne) of Holland, MB, Marianne (Gilles) of Holland, MB and Ken (Christine) of Holland, MB; her grandchildren, Julie (Jeremy), Richard (Alison), Thomas (Andrea), Nicole, Leanne, Jenna, Stephanie (Aaron), Ashley (Ryan), Chelsea (Robert), Luc (Kendra), Brittany (Alex), Shane and Megan (Michael); her sisters, Lorraine Grift (Robert) of Swan Lake, MB and Germaine Van De (Ron); and her sisters-in-law, Annette De Backer of Swan Lake, MB, Lorna Maloney of Brandon, MB, Laura Grift of Holland, MB and Emma Shwaykosky of Winnipeg, MB. She is also survived by 22 great grandchildren.

A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the St. John Berchmans Catholic Church (129 Patrick St, Holland, MB R0G0X0). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
