He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Bannish and Mavis Bannish; his brother Wayne Bannish; his parents-in-law, Stanley and Jean Sutherland; and his daughter-in-law Andréa Bannish.

He is survived by: his wife Barb; his sons, Michael (Kendra) and Daniel (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Ross, Colton, Dawson and Brynlee; his brother Greg Bannish; and his brothers-in-law, Buzz Sutherland (Pat) and Leslie Sutherland (Janet). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, close friends.
