He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Sawatzky (Klassen) and Bernhard Sr. Sawatzky; his wife Mary (Neufeld); his grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher Sawatzky; his siblings, Erika, Elsie and John; and his siblings-in-law, Hilda, Helen, Susie and John.
He is survived by: his new family doctor Stewart Silagy; his children, Donald (Kathy), Doris Dickson (Barry) and Arlene Arnold (Larry); his grandchildren, Matthew, Michael Sawatzky, Thomas, Alec Dickson, Michelle Bachalo (Keaton) and Breanna Arnold (Troy Sawyer); his great grandchild Blake Bachalo; his siblings, Jake, George, Vic (Anne), Louie (Nancy), Irene Strempler (Gerry), Emmy Wiebe (Ron) and Hedy Wiebe; his siblings-in-law, Sara and Bill Reimer; Ben.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church (926 Garfield St N, Winnipeg, MB R3E2N6). A burial was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 2:15 PM at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church Cemetery (15 Victoria Rd, Springstein, MB R4K1C4).
