He was predeceased by: his wife Allene McKay; his sister Josie Sobetski; his son Peter; his grandson Justin; and his parents, Mary Kowalik and Max Kowalik.
He is survived by: his children, Richard (Wanda), Marcy (Paul) and Crystal (Steve); his grandsons, Anthony and Jay; his sister Emily Kozera; and his son-in-law Paul.
