He was predeceased by: his father Guy; and his brother Roger. He is survived by: his significant other Joanne LaRocque; his son Patrick Rey (Krista); his stepson Michael Bussieres (Casey); his significant other's children, Justin Senga (Katie), Christine Herlevsen (Josh), Hayden and Selena; his mother Doris Rey; his sisters, Gisèle Wlasichuk (Dennis) and Charlene Lucier (Jeff); and his pets, Angel, Sasha and Sadie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

“Gilles was a very dear friend to my husband and I in fact he was more than a friend he was family we spent many evenings together playing cards or just hanging out with him and Joanne. We miss him more than words can express but we know that at John 5:28,29 it says," Do not be amazed at the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his ( Jesus ) voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, " this scripture keeps me going Ethel &Wayne Kaszuba”
