It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Amelia De Fontes Mendes (Winnipeg, Manitoba), who passed away on January 11, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband José Mendes; her son Joe Mendes; her parents, Albano Borba and Felicidade Borba; her siblings, José, João Borba and Maria Faustino; and her sister-in-law Magarida Borba.
She is survived by: her children, Manuel, Antonio (Elma), Albano (Danielle) and Maria (Dean Steski); her grandchildren, Myles (Piper), Kyle (Leah), Alana, Mario, Celina, Luke, Emila and Jack; her great grandchild Montana; and her siblings-in-law, Zelia Borba, Maria, Luz Figueiredo, Albertina Araujo and Manuel Ledo (Maria). She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She sought to see the good in people, donated her time and resources to different charities, and treated people with compassion, patience and kindness.
