He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose and Maria of Carmo; and his sister Armenia Tavares. He is survived by: his wife Rosa; his children, Grace (Emmanuel), Joe (Adelle), Roberto (Carla), Natalia (Phillip) and Elisabete (Gilberto); and his sister Carmelia (Luis). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
