He was predeceased by: his parents, James Baines and Muriel Baines; his sister Sandra Schwab; and his stepson Donald Bresch. He is survived by: his wife Joan; his stepdaughters, Gillian Bresch-Giesbrecht (George) and Megan Bresch; his stepgrandchildren, Astrid, Katrina, Beckett, Landon, Andreas and Mila; and his siblings, Brenda Grady (John), Lorna Floyd (Matthew) and Darryl Baines (Lisa). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
