He was predeceased by: his brothers, Arthur and Lawrence; his sisters-in-law, Joyce and Ann Schmidt; and his parents, Henry Schmidt and Susie Schmidt (Remple).

He is survived by: his wife Helen; and his children, Darryl (Joanne), Jennifer (Gord Utz), Gerald (Karen) and Carla (Curt Hall). He is also survived by his friends and family.
