He was predeceased by: his parents, Mennonite and Dr. Duerksen; his son Carl (Shelley); his grandchildren, Daniel (Andrea), Benjamin (Sara), Samantha, Rebecca (Mickey), Larissa (Joel) and Emma; and his siblings, Ed, Albert, Annegret, Veronica, Ruth, Karin and Elvira.
He is survived by: his wife Anni Duerksen; and his children, Ingrid Loewen (Dieter), Rob (Liz) and Ron.
