It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Genevieve Sophy (Franczyk) Matkowski (Winnipeg, Manitoba), who passed away on December 20, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Wojciech Franczyk and Rosalie Franczyk; her brothers, Karol and Zdislaw; her sister-in-law Kazimiera; and her daughter Zaneta.
She is survived by: her daughter Elizabeth Bannerman; her son-in-law Murray; her grandchild Dana Bannerman (Cassandra); her great grandchildren, Chloe and Lyla; her granddaughter Lana Bannerman Bender; her great grandchild Stephen Murray; her granddaughter Alexa Bannerman Miller (Evan); her brother Chester Franczyk; and her sister-in-law Janet Franczyk.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, funeral and celebrations of life will be announced in the future It was Genevieve's wishes for everyone to remember to always show compassion and kindness to one another and always count your Blessings.
She received many honors and distinctions for her charity work and volunteering.
