He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Vinet and Jeanne Vinet; and his brothers, Raymond and Paul. He is survived by: his siblings, Ron (Marie) and Patricia (Adrien); his nieces and nephews, Joanne (Rene), Carolyn (Hekthor), Katie (Tim), Sarah-Anne (Emerson), Joel, Robert (Violet) and Marc; and his sisters-in-law, Diane and Margaret. He is also survived by extended family members, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations be made to CNIB Foundation in Gilbert's name.
