He was predeceased by: his former wife Bernice; his son Jack; his daughter-in-law Cheryl; his son Gregory; and his parents, Howard Smith and Jean Smith.

He is survived by: his siblings, Wilfred, Gladys, Violet and Morris; his wife Gwen; his siblings, Sadie and Wally (Joan); his children, Ricky and Linda Taylor (Robert); his grandchildren, Sarah (Leo), Erica (Tyler), Lee-Anne (Mike), Mike (Danielle), Michelle (Scott), Stuart (Jen), Jason (Shannon), Craig Carter (Angela) and Zander; and his stepchildren, Tannis Drew (Bill), Tyler, Tracey Phoenix (Brett) and Marigold. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
