He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Anna; his children, Maria Tyrawski (Protodeacon Stefan), Irena Duplak (Andrzej) and Piotr Karchut (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Bohdan Tyrawski, Oksana Unilowsky, Dr. Kamila Duplak (Marcin Pacak), Steven Duplak (Stephanie Mazzon), Austen, Amelia and Craig Karchut; his great grandchild Christian Unilowsky; his siblings, Agata Werbowa, Stefania Hrycko, Bogdan Karhut (Nadzieja), Jozef, Teodor, Wladyslaw Karhut and Kataryna Gbur; his parents, Michal and Anna; and his parents-in-law, Michal and Maria Kowalczyk.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jan's memory to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Maintenance Fund.
