She was predeceased by: her husband William George Angus "Gus" Hales; her brother Don MacDonald; and her parents, George MacDonald and Marie MacDonald. She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Hales (Mark Unger), Dawna Hales, Massé (Gérard Massé) and Christine Hales Pavagadhi (Mev Pavagadhi); her grandchildren, Ryle (Marc), Ethan Unger, Alec, Émilie, Luc Massé, Kira (Braden) and Cady Pavagadhi; her sister Karen MacDonald; and her nieces and nephews, Stephen, Laura, Jacie, Meagan, Chris and Corey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janice's memory to Winnipeg Humane Society or Rossbrook House, two of Janice's most loved charities.
