“I first met Jon at University of Manitoba...I did not know him but I would regularly see him at Migiizi Agamak (Ab House) on campus at various functions. We Began to talk and found out our shared experiences as 60's Scoop Survivors, being two-Spirited, loving to laugh, and our love for music. Several times, w would sing for fun at the St John's Chapel, and I introduced him to the beautiful music of the Carpenters. Since I lived downtown, he would often come by for a walk, go for coffee, go to”

“To his friends and family: I met John at a week long conference at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity. He was instantly interesting and funny. His life story and interests were vast and he naturally created deep conversation around our tables. We explored the nearby nature as a group and he often sang or told us word meanings in Cree. I wanted to get to know him better because he was so creative and influential. My condolences, I'm sure he will be missed.”
