He was predeceased by: his brother Brian Mathieson; his sister-in-law Marie; his nephew Kevin; and his parents, John Mathieson and Grace Mathieson.

He is survived by: his wife Gayle; his daughters, Marcia (Taka), Karen and Rena (Chris); his grandchildren, Kenta and Emi; his niece Lydia; his nephew Russell; his cousin Judy (Joe); and his goddaughter Bridget. He is also survived by many brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, friends.
