He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl and Anna; and his siblings, Giesela, Karla, Helga and Dieter.
He is survived by: his wife Thunder Bay; his children, Monique (Guy Whitehill), Christine (Don Ross) and Kevin (Krista Wishart); his stepgrandchildren, Delaney Ross (Steve Burtnack), Devon Ross (Monica Lacey) and Patrick Whitehill; his grandchildren, Shevonne Ross (Myles Reid), Tyanna Ross, Sawyer Wishart and Edward Birkholz; his great grandchildren, Austin Burtnack, Wyatt Burtnack and Daria Ross; his sister Diemut Schultz (Dee); and his sister-in-law Erika Birkholz. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In March 2022, Otto and Ellen celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a small gathering with family and a couple of close friends due to COVID-19 protocols.
