He was predeceased by: his parents, Abram Friesen and Mary Friesen; his sisters, Rose Plett, Ester Plett and Alvina McGregor; his former wife Stella; his adoptive father Abram (Mary Friesen); Marlene Patkau.
He is survived by: his children, Veronica (Jim), Richard and Darlene Drystek. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
